About
Our mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our vision is for all girls growing up in Alameda County to feel valued, safe, and prepared to achieve their dreams of college, career, and leadership. To that end, we connect girls from underserved neighborhoods with access to the resources and opportunities they need to navigate gender, economic, and racial barriers, and realize their potential.
Volunteer Opportunities
Weekly Classroom Literacy Volunteer
Classroom volunteers work at one of our Oakland elementary school sites (K-5th grade) in the after-school hours and focus mostly on literacy and helping girls achieve grade-level reading.
Weekly Middle School Volunteer
Volunteers working with our middle school girls (grades 6-8) work at one of our Oakland middle school sites or in downtown Oakland at our headquarters, the Simpson Center for Girls.
Weekly Academic Tutor Volunteer
Volunteer academic tutors work one-on-one with students in the 8th-12th grades at the Simpson Center for Girls in downtown Oakland. While students need assistance in many subjects, we have the highest need for tutors who specialize in various levels of math and science.
