About the Calgary Drop-in Centre
Our Mission: We welcome adults at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Working collaboratively, we provide access to a spectrum of care that supports each person’s transition to the most independent living possible—including emergency shelter, programs and services, and affordable and supported housing.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Donation Centre Volunteer – Individual/Group
- This volunteer role supports the day-to-day activities at our Donation Centre in support of the Free Goods Progam. This includes the storage, distribution, management, and inventory of the donations that the Calgary Drop-In Centre receives. There are lots of opportunities to help out around the Donation Centre, so whether your strengths involve organization, communication, customer service, or something else entirely, we would love to have you volunteer here!
- Lunch/Dinner Donate & Serve
- Did you know we serve approximately 500 people every mid-day? With this team-orientated opportunity, you can donate a delicious meal and lend support to the guests who dine at the DI. This opportunity to give back will leave an impression on both you and the guests you serve. Providing support through a warm smile, nutritious meal and community service makes Calgary stronger. Please note, your donation and volunteer dates may occur on two separate days.
- Donation Centre – Support Crew
- Support Crew volunteers assist our staff with daily general cleaning chores.
Everything from wiping tables and walls to mopping or sweeping floors and stairs. These
volunteers thrive on sparkling surfaces, rolling their sleeves up and turning chaos into order. - They are organized, efficient and want to help us meet one of our greatest needs: a clean space for the clients.
- Support Crew volunteers assist our staff with daily general cleaning chores.
- Build a Kindness
- Learn the value of building community by putting together packages filled with kindness — they will go directly to our city’s most vulnerable people. This is a great way to involve your family, school group, corporate team, or other community groups of which you”re a part.
- Community Clean Up Volunteer
- We are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers to join our staff in representing the Calgary Drop-In Centre (the DI) at Community Cleanup events across the city this spring and summer. We ask that volunteers can provide their own transportation to the community clean-up site and be available to assist us from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the day of the event.
- Lunch/Dinner Service Volunteer – Individual/Group
- Spend your lunch with your family, friends or colleagues while serving a meal to guests of the DI. This small but transformative gesture will leave a lasting impact on you and the people you serve.
