Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteer positions are suitable for anyone looking to connect with a supportive and active community, explore new career paths, gain work experience and learn new skills! All of our volunteers have access to a hot meal, and services provided at the centre. Sign up online to join us as a volunteer!
Foodbank:
We serve hundreds of clients each week! In some cases, we provide 80-85% of a households food. Our foodbank is set up “market style”, clients are able to choose what they do or do not want. We also deliver food to those who are not able to make it to our location.
In this role, you would:
- Welcome and serve clients who come into the food bank
- Unpack and sort donated food
- Work as a team to unload food delivery truck on Monday mornings
- Register new clients in the system
- Share agency programming with those who need additional services
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs and must wear closed toe shoes
Meal Program:
Every day, we serve hundreds of hot meals to our community. We are looking for kitchen volunteers to help our staff prepare and serve hot meals! Shifts are available Monday-Friday between 6AM-4PM.
In this role, you would:
- Help prepare meals for clients and deliveries
- Serve clients breakfast and lunch
- Help clean and tidy the kitchen after preparation
- Clean dishes using the commercial dishwasher
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs and must wear proper footwear
Clothing Program:
At the Caldwell Family Centre, we have a Clothing Boutique that sells second hand clothing and household items at economical prices to help the community afford what they need. All proceeds go towards our Clothing Assistance Program which provides boxes of clothing to those in need.
In this role, you would:
- Help organize and price donated items
- Sort through donations
- Assist in sales to our clients
- Help train individuals in retail procedures, in order to gain work experience
Computer Café:
The Computer Café offers free access to computers, internet, and printing. It is available to everyone!
In this role, you would:
- Assist clients with navigating the internet, computer programs, and printing/scanning/faxing
- Help clients with resume and communication needs
