About the Associated Blind Foundation
The Associated Blind Foundation was formed to enable visually impaired individuals to develop their fullest potential by offering a full range of community and residential services.
The mission of the Foundation includes encouraging, developing, and supporting projects and initiatives that offer support and services to residents by promoting public awareness and collecting and disseminating information regarding the issues and obstacles visually impaired individuals face.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Associated Blind Foundation is seeking volunteer readers for our Reading Program, which allows volunteers to read mail, periodicals, or books to the visually impaired. The volunteer sessions are approximately 45 minutes; however, each volunteer has the flexibility to schedule the duration of their session. This program assists residents with not only reading but also provides a sense of companionship.
If interested in volunteering, please contact Elijah Hobbs at 646-675-1945 or email elijah@abfselis.org. ABF/ Selis Manor is located at 135 W. 23rd Street, New York City, NY for the purpose of providing subsidized housing and a safe environment for over 200 visually impaired and disabled families.
