How to Celebrate Pride Month at Work

June 1, 2024

Each June, communities worldwide come together to celebrate Pride Month—a time dedicated to honoring LGBTQIA2+ individuals, commemorating the progress made in LGBTQIA2+ rights, and advocating for equality and inclusion. It's a moment to reflect on the struggles faced by the LGBTQIA2+ community and to affirm our commitment to creating a more equitable and accepting world.

Pride Month serves as a reminder that diversity is not just something to be tolerated but celebrated—a vibrant tapestry of identities, experiences, and perspectives that enrich our lives and our workplaces. It's a time to uplift LGBTQIA2+ voices, acknowledge their contributions, and stand in solidarity with them in the ongoing fight for equality.

This Pride Month, we invite you to join us in a meaningful virtual activity designed to promote social awareness, early literacy, and advocacy for LGBTQIA2+ rights. In partnership with minibiblioPLUS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and inclusion, we're excited to offer a unique opportunity for team engagement and education.

In this virtual team-building experience, participants will have the chance to record readings of children's books that celebrate LGBTQIA2+ Pride. Working in small teams, participants will select from a curated list of age-appropriate books that feature diverse characters and themes of acceptance, love, and inclusion.

Through these readings, participants will not only promote early literacy but also foster important conversations about diversity, empathy, and understanding. By sharing stories that reflect the lived experiences of LGBTQIA2+ individuals, participants will contribute to creating a more inclusive and compassionate society—one story at a time.

But this activity isn’t just about reading—it's about advocacy, empowerment, and creating lasting change. By amplifying LGBTQIA2+ voices and stories, participants will play a vital role in promoting visibility and acceptance for the LGBTQIA2+ community, both within their workplace and beyond.
