Back to School @ Your Office

September 1, 2024

Overview

As the back-to-school season approaches, how can your team support students in their return to classrooms in your local community? In this post, we'll explore how Salesforce teamed up with Keen to Help, embarked on a mission to support students in need to create a significant impact on local students’ educational journeys in partnership with Operation Backpack.

Challenge

The financial burden of back-to-school expenses is considerable for many families, with average costs exceeding $700 per student. This challenge often leaves millions of children without the essential supplies needed for learning, impacting their academic performance and confidence.

Solution

In partnership with Operation Backpack and the Welcome Collective, keen to help designed & sourced the materials needed in their flagship Back to school essentials & early literacy initiative to equip students for a productive school year. By packing the items as a team, Salesforce was able to add a personal touch. Binders were decorated, words of encouragement were shared, and the backpacks were transformed into the launching pad to fuel individual educational journeys.

Impact

As a result of the back to school initiative:

  • Direct Support: The initiative provided 204 backpacks filled with school supplies and educational materials, significantly aiding students in their academic journey.
  • Employee Engagement: The project fostered a strong sense of community among Salesforce employees, bringing them closer together around a shared purpose worth contributing to.
  • Educational Empowerment: By addressing immediate needs and promoting early literacy, the initiative supported students' success and provided them with tools and resources that contribute to their long-term educational development.

Conclusion

Salesforce’s back-to-school initiative, powered by Keen to Help and in support of Operation Backpack, exemplifies how strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts can address critical community needs. By leveraging Keen to Help’s expertise and Salesforce’s resources, the initiative made a substantial difference in the lives of students.
